I’m very happy to present the new collaborative release on Samaritan Press “Your Soul is the Holy Sound”!
The 10” record’s packaging was designed by and drawn by me in five separate pieces. The cover, insert, and prayer card were then printed via screen print at Monolith Press and inner sleeve on the letterpress here at Samaritan Press.
When I make these occasional music collaborations I aim to create an object that vibrates. Every aspect is printed manually and with intention. The spirit of the music contained within is my inspiration.
This dovetailing of art and music encourages an experience in opposition to the on-screen thumbnails and mp3 quality of the current period. The exchange of energy can only come from a handmade object. It’s impossible to convey via screen.
SOMA’s 5 tracks were recorded in the historic Trinity Episcopal Church in Asbury Park. The drones, chants and meditative soundscapes convey a deep devotion to spiritual thought and the search for connection through music. They’re psychedelic and spiritual at once, the earnest combination that I also hope to embody in my art.
